Storvik Novice Tourney Cavalry Info Packet

Event: Novice Tourney, Barony of Storvik
Dates: July 11-13, 2008
Horses may arrive no earlier than 3 pm Friday and must be off-site by
1 pm Sunday
Site: The site is the Patuxent River Park, 16000 Croom Airport Rd,
Upper Marlboro, MD 20772

Wet site – no kegs. Pets are allowed but are asked to keep away from
the equestrian areas (if your pet is used to being around horses, you
may keep it with you pending approval from the MOTH).

Cavalry Schedule:
SIGN IN WITH MOL BEFORE YOU GET ON YOUR HORSE
Friday: Arrive at site sign in with Troll and MOL, settle in horses
and set up the field.
Liability class offered after field is set-up in the cavalry MOL tent
(big blue and white tent by the road as you come in towards the picnic
shelter. Cavalry Marshalling 101 class after if there is any interest.

Saturday:
8 am: warm-up horses/authorizations/ sign-in with MOL
10 am: Tourney – Pick your hero Tourney (since we did not do it at
Hero's Portion)
Noon to 3 pm: lunch break – check out rest of event (too hot to ride –
put the horses in the shade)
3 pm: Equestrian Display – (display your equestrian skills at the games.)
4:30 pm: put horses up/ tear down field
5pm: court
6 pm: feast
7:30 pm (or after feast) if still some daylight – Firefly Trail Ride

Sunday:
Pack up / clean up field / go home – off-site by noon (1 pm at latest).

What to bring: Chairs and day pavilions can be set up along side the
games area by the road. Banners and other decorations for the games
arena are encouraged. Bring lances and swords for the games if you
have them. Bring a section of garden hose so we can get water to the
horses.

Horse Owners:
-Those bringing horses MUST provide present proof of negative Coggins
test before their horse may be unloaded from the trailer. Those
crossing state lines must also provide a health certificate from their
Veterinary.
-Stallions are allowed, but owners must notify MOTH prior to the event
and they must be marked with yellow tassels or ribbons.  Known kickers
and biters are not allowed. Green horses may be marked with green
tassels or ribbons.
-Horse owners need to bring buckets, 1 section garden hose to run a
line to the tourney field. Forks, pickers and wheel borrows are not
available at the site. We suggest you bring some if possible.
-You may camp with your horse at the site. There are a few trees for
picketing from tree to your trailer. Electric tape enclosures may be
used if your horse is used to such enclosures. You must mark each side
of the enclosure with a sign warning people it is electrified. Those
who keep their horse on-site overnight must camp near enough to the
horses to see and hear them.

Directions to the site: make your best way to I-95/495 and go south on
MD 3. Go 10 miles then take US-301 South exit. Go 11 miles then turn
left onto MD-382/Croom Rd. Look for the Patuxent River Park sign and
turn left on to Croom Airport Road. Follow to the very end. The site
is on the right. Trailer parking is along the fence on either side or
along tree line to your immediate right as you enter the site.  (See
