Good morning all,
I've received a couple of questions regarding the Pages Academy classes at University.
First of all, NO, the child does NOT need to be in the Pages academy to be allowed attend the class. Children who have not been inducted into the pages academy can still attend the class and are encouraged to do so.
That said, the teachers were told to plan their classes for children ages 9 - 14. If your child is significantly younger than that, they may not have either the muscle development or the behavior skills to participate in the class. Whether or not the teacher allows children younger to attend is ENTIRELY up to the teacher. For example, in a blacksmithing class that was taught a couple years ago, the teacher absolutely refused children younger than 9 because they didn't have the strength to safely handle the metal tools they were working with. He also stipulated no adults be present so he could focus on the children. (He had an earlier class for adults.) The teacher may request you remain with your child to both help them with the task and monitor their behavior as a condition of attendance. If your child is significantly younger than 9, then please speak with the teacher regarding their participation before the class begins.
If you're an adult and wish to attend the class, again, please speak with the teacher before class. Children have the first priority on teaching materials and equipment, but if you have good behavior skills you may be allowed to participate. Also, if you are an adult and attending a pages' class, we strongly request that you hold questions or discussion until after class, in order to avoid distracting the children.
Thirdly! I'm looking for some generous gentles who are willing to spend a class period or two sitting in the pages academy classes in order to fulfill Atlantia's "two-adult" requirement. I'm especially in need of adults for the first two class periods. If you are a parent (or a really wonderful generous person possessed of noble spirit), please consider setting aside one class period (it doesn't even have to BE with your child), to support the teachers who are giving their time and materials to teach the children of Atlantia. If we can not fulfill the two adult rule, we will be forced to cancel the class as per kingdom policy.
Thank you in advance!
Livia Z.
