The "shrub glasses" look a lot like the upended glass in "The Triumph of
Death" by, Pieter Bruegel the Elder (c. 1562).

The same shop also sells "julep cups" that would be great from the high
middle ages on down.

These are expensive, though.  I often see that style of cup for sale in
bathroom sets, but they are usually labeled as "not safe for drinking."  I
guess they're toothbrush holders or something.  If anybody knows a good
source for inexpensive, food-grade beakers (julep cups), please chime in.
