[MR] Journey to the Crusades

Greetings from the Canton of Caer Gelynniog-
Journey to the Crusades will be coming on September 19-21, 2008 to Pleasant Grove in Palmyra, Virginia. Pre-reservations will be accepted at the lower prices as long as the payment is postmarked by September 8, 2008, so hurry and send in your reservations now.
There will be a Central War Practice along with rapier, lots and lots of archery (with an archery target competition), youth armored combat, cavalry with tournaments and jousting. and A&S competitions.

A&S activities are as follows:
Heraldic Display Competition
* There will be Beginner and Advanced categories. Displays will be judged at individual encampments or at A&S. (Entry must be registered at A&S with information on where encampment is.)
* Pieces must have been created within the last 2 years.
* Works in progress are acceptable.
* Documentation encouraged but not required.
Scroll Illumination competition
* There will be Beginner and Advanced levels.
* Submit scrolls from the approved list of Kingdom awards. Calligraphy is optional. Scrolls will be judged on illumination only.
* All scrolls will be given to Prince Jason and Princess Gerhild to use at their discretion, so please make copies of your work before turning them in for judging.
* Documentation encouraged but not required.
Favors to send with your beloved fighter/archer to carry into battle as a reminder of those who inspire their valor.
* Tokens, trappings, and other wearable or portable items.
* Categories will be beginner and advanced.
* Handwork only, please.
* Documentation encouraged but not required.
10th-14th Century Practical Items
* Things that are everyday items that could be carried on the person, but not consumed, on their journey to the crusades, excluding weapons. (Things like pouches, eating utensils, etc., made from leather, wood, fabric, etc.)
* Documentation is required.
All entries must be signed in by NOON at the A&S display area, and picked up prior to court/feast.
The Archery Target Competition is as follows:
Competitions will be for the most fun to shoot and most original targets.
*Entries will be voted on by the archers.
*Individuals or groups are welcome to compete.
*No more than 2 entries per person/group.
*All targets must pass marshal inspection before use.
*All entrants must give notice of their intent to compete to the archery marshal by September 1. Please include a brief description of the target as well as range requirements. (Target does not have to be complete for you to send a notification of intent.)
*If your entry will not be able to accompany you to the event, please let us know as soon as possible.
*All entries must arrive and be inspected by 10:30 am Saturday.
