Last Minute Reminder for those heavy fighters coming to Sacred Stone Baronial Birthday tomorrow.....
If you are planning on competing in the ransom tourney you need to make sure you briong a prize worth at least $5.00 to ransom yourself should you be defeated.
Below is the Heavy fighting timetable;
Sacred Stone Baronial Birthday Saturday Heavy Fighting Time table
10:00 - armor inspection/MoL/ authorizations
11:00 - Baronial Champions Tourney (Double Elimination)
12:00 - Counted Blows Tourney (Run by Christian Thomas of York)
3:00 - Ransom Tourney (explanation below)
5:00 - Fighting ends
6:00 - Court
7:00 - Feast
Ransom Tourney Rules:
1) All compeditors must bring a prize worth at least $5.00 to ransom themselves should the be defeated.
2) The Tourney format will be a free-for-all Melee (teams will be allowed and encouraged)
3) The object is to strike your opponent a killing blow. When this occurs the person struck says "good", and ceases fighting, putting their weapon over their head. The person who dealt the killing blow then puts their weapon or free hand on the dead person's shoulder and guides them off the field. Should they get them to the edge of the list field then the defeated person is out of the Melee, and that persons prize is forfit to the person who got him off the field.
4) A killed/defeated person can be rescued by anyone. A rescue is effected by forcing the person escorting the defeated person to remove their weapon/hand from the defeated person, and force them at least 5 feet away from the defeated person, or, of course, kill/defeat the escourter.
5) A rescued person can not be immediately engaged, they procede to the center rest area, and can return to the melee at any point they wish fully healed.
6) There will be a rest area roped off in the center of the fighting area. Fighters in this area may not be engaged. Non-rescued fighters entering this area do not heal wounds. Only rescued fighters entering this area heal wounds.
This combat is supposed to represent a tourney from the William the Marshal era. Fighters dealt a killing blow are assumed to have been stunned long enough to have their helms removed and would there for be vulnerable and considered defeated. According to my sources the term list at this time was used to mean an area where exhausted combatants could retire to and regain their strength and then continue
