Long has it been since the old tournaments in the abandoned Castle de Vymont.
Many are the days that have passed since the mighty equestrians raced down the field to throw a great and worthy opponent from their horse.
I long to hear the sound of steel on steel as the combatants would fight to win the favor of a fair maiden in the crowd.
But I have heard rumors………
Could they Be True……..
Some travelers came down the road while I was amongst the workers in the field one day and they were headed toward the old castle. I yelled that they should take the other route to the populace of Cyddlain Downs but they insisted on going to the castle.
Later that evening I was awakened by the distant sounds of pick axes and hammers. I decided to take a walk and see for myself if the rumors were true. As I walked down the road I began to hear chanting as the monks used in mass in the castle’s glory years. When the old castle came into view I was frozen with awe and excitement. The Monks of Brockshore Abbey had returned. Praise Be!!!!! I could hardly believe that they had embarked on the task of rebuilding the castle. I worked my way up to one of the monks and asked why they had decided to rebuild the castle, the champions were all gone. He told us that in a vision one of the monks saw four new champions with Castle de Vymont in the background. With the permission of the crown they had returned and would host a great tournament to crown the four champions. The monk continued to say that along with the tournament there would be games and festivities that would put the event high on a
most grandiose scale. Afterwards a great Feast would be prepared and served to the all who would attend to honor the champions of the day and the hard work of the monks to hold such a great event.
Come and Join the Hartsville Friends of the Library and Brockshore Abbey in the awesome Demo. The Tournament will be September 27, 2008 in Hartsville, SC.
