Most of the time there's not much for anyone to do in the gaps
between whatever their "item of focus" is. I spent years where I got
to the event, fought (and occasionally looked at merchants), got
knocked out of the tournament in two rounds, and was bored until
feast started unless I was just hanging out with friends. And that's
an adult situation, not a teen one.
With the introduction of youth combat, there's very little at an SCA
event that is age-delimited. Instead of working to add youth
activities, why not add more activities in general, and not call it a
teen issue?
