I also agree we should find other things for teens to do besides fighting. As a youth armored combat marshal with two 13 old twins I can tell you that they get really bored when they are not fighting. Most of the time there is nothing for them to do between the youth tourneys at most events. A&S youth competitions are OK, but the kids do the work at home not in the events. They need some activities besides fighting. Right now there only three things teens can do at most event, archery, youth combat and youth rapier. The last two not available at all events. It would be great if event coordinators would start finding?activities for kids 12 and up. Or create tasks for them to volunteers maybe as retainers, messengers, etc. Face it, participation for us adults would be hard if we had to drag our kids with us to places they would not rather be. So far I'm lucky, they both love it and I want to keep it that way.

I fully concur, knowing that next year we will probably be bringing a
13yo son and a 14 yo daughter to their (and our) first Pennsic.
