One of my best good stories is actually with a merchant (ok later story 2)..
I arrived at war with my sprained ankle in a aircast.. not the most comfy war...and seeing these things are big bulky and couldnt walk my normal barefoot the only shoes I had were sneakers with cat faces on them... though sure in time could probally research show period they didnt exactally go with my garb... I'd stopped at the perfume shop on way through town and in course of conversion he happened to mention not know I was looking a cobbler by the name of Jim at NativeEarth ..so I took purchases and crutches to seek out Jim... a lifelong cobbler I was told ... Jim saved my war by finding me a pair of shoes after exam of my feet ,which I'm sure were quite fragrant with pennsic dust and the aircast thus saving me the embarrasement of *catting around* site...best thing is can wear after the ankles beter and lifetime warranty!!! In course of talking I found that while he was a war the CA wildfires were very nearby his home so I hope that he arrives to a
home from war and all is safe/sound for him....
