[MR] Complaining for Complaining sake (was Mantlings, not Mantles.)

I find that this is a recurring cycle; I think about once every 6 months, maybe a little more frequent someone posts something that sets a burr under the tail of some people. Usually it is sparked by a "good idea", most of the time most of those folk doing the initial postings are intending it to be constructive suggestions, some find it a time for jest, others a time to criticize. Fortunately, such things are short-lived (at longest, I've seen, a couple weeks). The thread of negative comments are usually cut down by the jesters and those of "calmer" mindset.
Checks and Balances.
It brings me to a time at a War when I was so happy about a new composition a friend wrote, I encouraged her to sing it at the bardic circle. There was one lady there who did not contribute anything during the whole time. But after my friend sang her new composition, procceded to snidely tear it apart in front of her. I tore into her: Who was she to criticize in such a fashion? She who did not even contribute to the Bardic sharing? The woman never answered me, but left. To say the least, it was a while before my friend sang at a Bardic. As for the woman who criticized, I never saw her again.
When we criticize harshly, it does nothing but to discourage the person targeted; But, constructive criticism, where you say "This part could be improved if you did this..." or "Have you thought about maybe doing this?" and demonstration or an explaination most of the time will get you a "thank you" and encourage the budding (or vetran) artist. We are all human, we all make mistakes, we all need to rememeber that and help each other build each other up.. not tear apart.
Just my pence..

So then replace the rings in the mail with blue rings in the shape of Spike.
With some of the posts the last couple of days, I'm getting the distinct
impression that some people just like to complain for the sake of
complaining. When my feline children get too rambunctious, I send them
outside for time-out & to let them run off their energy. Jest sayin'.
