That is why The Laurel Sovereign passed a ruling that banned non-period monsters formed by adding unicorn’s horns to natural animals in October, 1992. Only those individuals and groups who had registered a unicornate natural seahorse before that date may use it in new armory. (Atlantia had done so which is why the kingdom can continue to register badges using “Spike” and, having registered such a badge, may use it in augmentations.)

Where, historically in medieval Europe, would *anyone* have ever
conceived of a seahorse (with a horn, yet -- I suppose butterfly wings
