With the army being rebuilt and redesigned, it may not be out of place to re-imagine Spike as well. A heraldic hippocampus unicornate is a more powerful and martial totem to bear. Every one I have ever seen looks to always be "fightin mad".
 
There is always tradition and _the_way_things_are_done_, but eventually tradition for tradition's sake should be reviewed and perhaps left to antiquity. It may well be time to step up to imagery that bears a little more style, finesse and ferocity. 
 
Is this not the kingdom that takes pride in looking good on the field?
