And some of us do it for a number of reasons, including that's how we were
taught to be polite.

Our Crowns change and do so regularly.  They may be someone you have great
respect for, someone you don't know from Adam or someone you dislike.  But
at the very least, you should show respect for that position and the
symbolism it provides.  The thrones represent the physical presence of our
Monarchs.  Offering them a quick reverence is a simple way of showing
respect to the Kingdom as represented by the current Crowns.

I hear so often the pride and appeal of "we're a Society based on honor and
courtesy".  So why not take every opportunity you can to show simple
courtesies and enhance things for everyone around you?  It's not much
different than saying "please" and "thank you".
