I learned this "irritatingly ludicrous" custom in my first Kingdom some 
time ago. It was another one of those distant Kingdoms: East.  I still 
do it as the occasion arises, including during the time I spent in 
Meridies. I may well have done it at Defending the Gate, old habits of 
courtesy and all. Different strokes. What is a flag after all, or a chair?
