I have yet to find anything from period to justify the bowing to the empty thrones. In the Society it stems from an early reign of the Middle Kingdom. [long story deleted] The practice was in turn ridiculed by Yang the Nauseating in one of his very witty songs. After hearing the song, one has a hard time thinking that the royalty are honored by respects to the empty throne. But the practice traveled losing its original meanings...

Showing respect to empty thrones is not written in any requirements that I am aware of. But, I still teach that as well.
There are many customs through the Knowne World that are not written. They are not required by any means but I firmly believe they should be taught to those of our populace who are new to our Dream.
