When in doubt, check with the court herald! (And be willing to tell them
what the gift is, because some gifts are _never_ appropriate for court,
regardless of who they come from... If you won't tell me what it is, no way
are you going on the court docket. Ask me privately some time if you're
curious; I've got stories.) The court herald should be able to help you
find the right time to present it!
