[MR] Oak Galls

You know, I find these things all the time when I'm out walking in the woods.I know there are many kinds of oak galls. I'm assuming just the dried, empty brown ball is what is used? Do you use the little warty leaf galls or twig galls, too? I've found fresh ones before, but very rare. The empty ones are the ones I always stumble across.
 
If all you need are the brown ball type galls, I'm going to start picking them up for folks when I find them. There's no shortage of them around here.
