Alisoun and all others gathered here,
Please be assured that I did not move onto the Columbus Day Weekend
lightly or brashly.
I've been in contact with Gustav, the intended event steward of Kingdom
Crusades for 2008 and only sought to move onto this weekend when it
became apparent that Kingdom Crusades was not going to happen this year
for a number of reasons.
I have the blessing of Gustav as I in no way wanted to offend that good
gentle nor any other involved in the running of the Kingdom Crusades.
I have permission from Baroness Fiona, Kingdom Seneschale, Her Majesty
Rowan and Her Highness Kari.
It is understood that when Kingdom Crusades returns, War of the Wings
will need to find a new date.
Last year was a confused situation with KC's reserved weekend, usually
the second weekend of the month, falling on the first weekend of the
month . . . usually that reserved for Fall University. The fact that
WoW ended up on what was supposed to be the University weekend was an
inadvertent result of some miscommunication. It was a learning curve
for several of us.
I have tried to avoid a repeat of that situation or any perceived
disrespect. I apologize for not making that apparent in my initial
post.
In Service and gratitude,
~gise

Umm, under Kingdom law this weekend is a protected weekend reserved for
Kingdom Crusade. While I grant you that an event CAN be scheduled on a
protected weekend with the explicit permission of the Crown and Kingdom
Seneschal, I have to wonder why this war could not be scheduled on a
"free"
weekend, particularly since there would presumably not be a problem in
booking the site on other weekends.
This is not the first time that WoW has done this. Last year it pushed
Fall
University from its assigned weekend which caused no end of
difficulties for
quite a few folks.
One really has to ask why have "protected" dates in Kingdom Law if they
are
not actually protected, particularly in a case like this where Crusade
and
WoW are events of closely similar types and audiences.
