[MR] Let's just get rid of Spike

Yes...and perhaps we should also update Uncle Sam. He looks a bit old and scrawny, like the kind of guy that gets sand kicked in his face on the beach. Let's atleast give him some arnold schwarteneger pecks and some tatooed guns. Or let's get Uncle Sam into an outfit like the guy in Assassin's Creed wears...that would be cool! Uncle Ninja Sam! Now that's a mascot we can all get behind. We can have banners with him, sticking his foot up someone's backside.

Perhaps the Statue of liberty doesn't exhalt the femanine qualities you appreciate in a woman well enough...Let's just go ahead and shove her into the Atlantic and pick someone else more befitting to bear the name "lady liberty"...maybe Jessica Simpson is your preference. Can we get someone working on a statue of Jessica please? Maybe in daisy dukes washing the hood of a car.

Is there anything else you'd like to do away with because it doesn't suit you? Does the american flag clash with your brown shoes? Or perhaps the horizontal stripes are not sliming in your mind's eye. Well, then let's just go ahead and discard it, and pick something else. Screw the fact that it has historical significance and that people have died for it. It's OLD. That was then. This is now and we want to look cool.  

This talk of doing away with Spike turns my stomach, even in jest. It is unbecoming and I am offended by the lack of respect shown to the mascot of our beloved kingdom, which in its short history has achieved so much greatness. Let's discard Spike simply because he doesn't look enough of a bad-ass to us. What a wonderful mantra to hang your hat on. 

If you don't like the seahorse, then do not wear it. Please do not do anything that offends your senses or displeasures you. I am happy to see nobles and knights wear only their own coat of arms. They and you may stand on your own achievements and do not need to associate with a great kingdom to be elevated, if that is their choice. But spike is the mascot of our Kingdom and timid and frail as he may be in your eyes, to some of us he represents all that is Atlantia, The pearl of Oceanus. Spike represents "thug" to some, but he also represents; excellence on the field, artistry and craft, and the seat of SCA kings. 

Before you cast him aside, I would remind you that, Spike for all of his unimpressiveness is at times indomitable.
