[MR] make checks payable to...

Hello!
To answer several questions:
1. Yes, this is effective immediately. In fact, it was effective at the
society level about a year ago. Here in Atlantia we were just being slow to
initiate the administrative changes on all our groups, although we certainly
made it known back at Unevent.
2. You would not be incorrect to start sending reservations in now using
this naming convention, and it would certainly help get all of used to the
change.
3. And "Please enlighten us as to why this change is being mandated by the
Society for Creative Anachronism. Are they setting up a system to confiscate
these bank accounts?" NO. To begin with, these are already SCA Inc
accounts: that's what the SCA Inc on the end of each (current) account name
means! We all use the same federal tax id and same 501c3 information; ALL
the SCA groups provide year-end financial reports that roll up into kingdom
and state reports that eventually roll into a single tax return to the IRS.
All of us paid members ARE the SCA, and these accounts already belong to all
of us.
This change is completely administrative, and changes nothing else on how
accounts are managed. I certainly wasn't involved in the discussions
involved in change to the Society Financial Policy last year, but I
<suspect> it was more about helping get more "buying power" with banks by
keeping the names alphabetically congruent. I have had the experience, for
example, that when I go into a bank to ask questions about an account, and
they bring up account listings alphabetically to find "Barony of
LittlePlace, SCA.." that has a couple hundred dollars, I am usually greeted
with cordial disinterest. When I have them pull up all accounts with the
name "society for creative..." which, across the entire USA might total tens
or hundreds of thousands of dollars, we are greeted with significantly more
respect and helpfulness in solving any small issue. We are stronger working
together.
I'm happy to answer any other questions!
Best wishes,
Anne (emergency deputy)

Anne,
To clarify for myself (and perhaps others on the List)
1) Is this effective immediately?
2) If it is, do we go ahead and send in our reservations as outlined below
regardless of how it's worded in the Acorn or event flyer?
