Attention Textile Artisans!

I have been asked to organize a demonstration of medieval textiles at next
year's Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival. This takes place the first weekend
in May, and we would be demonstrating both days.

Here are the particulars:

1) I am looking for textile artisans who can demonstrate correct techniques
using appropriate equipment.

2) Demonstrators should be able to talk about the history, techniques, etc.
of their craft to the public.

3) Demonstrators should try to have as correctly "period" garb as possible.
There is no stipulation about staying within a particular time period, so
all times and cultures would be welcome.

4) It is asked that the wool thread be used, but other threads would be
allowed, especially for lace makers. This should pose no problem for weavers,
spinners, knitters, embroiderers, nalbinders, or sprangers.

5) I will be trying to have a good variety of techniques being demonstrated
during both days. To that end, I need to know Very Soon who might be
interested and what textile technique you feel you could demonstrate. If you can
do more than one, please let me know. It is possible that 97 embroiderers put
their hands up, and I will have to cull the herd!

6) The times are from 9 to 5 both days. I am thinking that blocks of 4
hours would work best, so there will be Sat 9-1 and Sat 1-5 and ditto on Sunday.
I will be there all day both days demonstrating and chaperoning (you know
how rowdy textile people can get ...). It would be Very Good if we had many
different people; only if we can't fill slots will I ask if anyone wants to
spend the whole day. It is extremely tiring, as you can imagine.

7) We will have a pavilion 20' x 20'.

8) Payment has been discussed by the organizers.

I need to let them know next week if this is a go. So I need to know NOW if
you are interested. Details can be worked out later, but I need to know the
level of interest.

Thank you.
