Come join us to relive the Wars of the Roses as they might have been. Activities of all kinds will be centered on the years 1455–1487 as the York and Lancaster houses fought for the throne of England. Who will be victorious?

Marshal Activities: 

Heavy Combat & Rapier: 
Team based melee combat with varied settings (open, woods, & portal). Each team (4-8 perticapants per team) will represent one of the historical nobles that fought in the Wars of the Roses. Teams will fight for the houses of York and Lancaster attempting to carry their side to victory. Archery: 
A target archery shoot will also take place; contact Martin Gareth (Dave Maness) pegasus321 at aol.com for more information.

Arts & Sciences Activities: 
There will be a competition of A&S displays representing the years 1455–1487 (The War of the Roses). 

1) A Rose in any Medium

Although the term "Wars of the Roses" was not used until later, the rose as a symbol is a reoccurring theme in this time period: The Red Rose of Lancaster, the White Rose of York, and the n combined in the Red and White Tudor Rose. Show use your rose, documentation encouraged but not required.

2)Costuming 1450 -1500

Clothing from the time period, this is not limited to just England. Documentation required.

3)Fiber Arts-White and Red

Any fiber art - weaving, luceted cording, embroidery, etc...but with a Red and White theme. Documentation required.
Open display always welcome.

Additionally, there will be a competition for Best "Richard III" Speech! The best rendition of "Now is the winter of our discontent" from Master Shakespeare's play about the crookback king will receive a prize! Sponsored by Lady Anne Sintmaartensdijk. The competition will take place after the midday meal.

Cost:
Adult, Member: $ 10.00 Day-Trip $ 9.00 Feast

Children 5 & under are guests of the Barony

Site:
The event is located across the street from Warwick High School (address: 51 Copeland Lane Newport News, VA 23601) which is part of Mariners Museum Park. Site is wet, but we ask for no original containers please. Pets are welcome, leashes required.

Feast:
A feast with courses representing the York and Lancaster houses will be prepared by Lady Briana Morgan of the Valley for a maximum of 96 gentles. Feast seats are by pre-reservation only, and pre-reservations must be received by September 21, 2007. 

The menu will include: 
Red Rose of Lancaster 
Chicken with Oranges and Onions
Salad with Red Vinegar dressing
Cherry Tort 

White Rose of York 
Roast Pig 
Cabbage Salad 
Applesauce 

House of Tudor 
Cheese Tart 
Makerouns (macaroni and cheese medieval style) 
Strawberries in Snow

The Barony will offer a tasty mid-day meal of a meat pie, fruit, bread, cheese and a hard-boiled egg for $5. Proceeds will benefit the Barony.

Merchants are welcome and encouraged. Please contact the autocrat with tent size for set up. There is no fee.

Directions:
Take your best route to I-64 East in Virginia. Then take ext 258A onto J. Clyde Morris Blvd. In 2.8 miles turn left onto US-60/Warwick Blvd. In .2 miles turn right onto Copeland Lane. Follow the SCA signs to the parking area.
