By the request of her Majesty, Queen Rowan, a lampwork bead competition and auction was held at Coronation. When the fast and furious bidding, especially for the Spikes, was completed (with the assistance of a Mistress of the Laurel who is also a professional auctioneer-thank you! I'm sorry I did not get your name) approximately $850 had been raised. The proceeds from the populace vote/donations and the auction will benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation in the memory of Mistress Caitlin Cheannlaidir and all of our friends and family who are no longer in our company due to this cancer. The total of this competition and auction and the one at Highland River Melees is approximately $1100!
We thank the generous populace of Atlantia who contributed through votes and bids and thank the artisans who contributed beads. In the experienced category they were: Lady Ethelfleda Davidsdottir (1st place winner), Lady Kateryn Rous (2nd place winner), Lady Tegan de Moreton, Lady Sveva la Lucciola, Lady Grace Whytteng, and Lady Elena di Salaparuta. The novices were Lady Wulfwyn Aelfwinesdohtor (1st place winner) and Countess Adelicia of Cumbria (2nd place winner.) In addition a Viking necklace that was a collaboration between Lady Ethelfleda (beads) and Lady Elena (beads and silverwork) was also auctioned off. If I have forgotten anyone please let me.
Special thank yous go to their Majesties, King Logan and Queen Rowan, for sharing their Coronation court with the auction.
Yours in service,
Lady Elena di Salaparuta
