If it helps, as an Irish Step dancer, here is how we count out the dances:
A jig: ONE two three and TWO two three and THREE two three......
A reel: a slower count of the same
Slip Jig: ONE two three four five, TWO two three four five (slower, more 
beats)
These are all soft shoe dances and the reel and jig are most commonly 
used ceili dances.
