Subject: [MR] Have spinning wheel and fiber, need teacher

Good evening to the Tavern:

I recently (Okay, about a month ago now) bought a spinning wheel. (An
Ashford Joy); and the thing confounds me. I bought some wool that's
supposedly good for a first time spinner (long staple length, etc). Now, I
have a fairly nice wheel and about a pound or so of wool, but I can't get
the two of them to peacefully co-exist and somehow get twisted and on the
bobbin. I got a DVD with the wheel, but it's not all that helpful.

Is there anyone out there who would be willing to give me a few spinning
lessons at a future event, perhaps in trade for either my heartfelt thanks
or failing that, something handwoven? I'm generally a quick study when it
comes to fiber stuff, so I wouldn't take up too much of your time.
