The morning of the 27th day of October, Anno Societatis 42, being 2007 Gregorian, dawned grey and drear. Our cart being mired on the approaching roads, Lady Alexandria Wright did graciously step in to act as Her Excellency's voice at the morning court.

After words of welcome and praise, Baroness Martelle von Charlottenburg did then honor Tsura the Elder with the Order of Tessa, for though she is new to our lands, her hall decoration and willing hands have made her a welcome addition.

As the day progressed and the rains ceased, Baroness Martelle saw fit to hold a court in the late afternoon. The hall was bedecked with all manner of nautical and piratical accoutrement, and many of our Barony came to warm the hall with their presence.

At this time, Her Excellency did open court, give thanks to all who braved the storms, and called forth the autocrat, Lady Daniella Schwartzhaupt, to give her comments upon the day.

Next, the Baroness called forth her champions of the realm: Lord Fulk the Bald, her heavy champion, Lady Constanza de Talevera, her rapier champion, Treya min Teanga, her archery champion, Lady Brienna Llewellyn Lindsay, her arts and sciences champion, and Baroness Roana de Laci, her brewing champion. Her Excellency thanked all these champions for their service over the past year, and asked them kindly if they were ready to resign their post to make way for her new champions who were chosen that day. All graciously stepped down, handing in their regalia, with the exception of Baroness Roana, who was asked to retain her post for another year, and accepted the offer.

Then did Her Excellency call forward the new champions: Lord Karchar the Blue Eyed, her new heavy champion, Lord Richard ffaukes, her new rapier champion, Fearghus MacDomhnaill, her new archery champion, and Tsura the Elder, her new arts and sciences champion. Each new champion was asked if they would continue the level of service laid down by their predecessor and if they would loyally serve the Barony, to which each agreed.

The champions being dismisssed, Baroness Martelle called into her presence Lady Aoife inghean Roibeard ui Ruadhain, Edmund atte Yeo, and their son Logan, and presented them with a banner of the Baronial device to take with them as they travel to Drachenwald to conquer more lands for the Bright Hills.

Heinrich, Baron Bright Hills, requested time in the court, and used this forum to thank Lord Kollack von Zweckel for acting as Baronial warlord at the Pennsic Wars. He also thanked several of the Barony's marshals, and gifted three of these with a special favor. The marshals of the various disciplines came forward and announced the winners of the days trials and awarded prizes for such. Before returning to his seat, His Excellency called forth his own son, Lord Albrecht, and announced the boys betrothal to his lady, Kat, and honored the pair of them with a sword with which to protect their household.

Another audience was requested, this time by Lord Robert Runewald from the Barony of Lochmere. In thanks for our allowing Lochmere to hold a tourney on Baronial lands, Lord Robert presented Her Excellency Martelle with a fine cheese, and declared that more gifts awaited her at the hands of Their Excellencies of Lochmere.

Baroness Martelle did then request the presence of Lady Alexandria Wright, who has worked tirelessly to compile an order of precedence of all those inhabiting the Barony. For this great feat, Lady Alexandria was gifted with the Order of the Golden Shell, the personal award of Her Excellency.

At the Pennsic Wars, several of our warriors distinguished themselves upon the field of battle. One such was Lord Werner der Fromme, who was grievously injured fighting for our cause. In the course of his injury, his set of Baronial colors were lost. It was at this time that Her Excellency called him forth to receive a new set of colors.

The Baroness called next Alexander Fowler, who has proven himself to be a fine minister of the lists. He has even assisted other Baronies with this task when called to do so, and has done so without complaint. For this great service, Alexander was awarded the Order of the Augean Stables.

Then did Her Excellency call into her court Lord Luke of Bright Hills. This good noble had taken a fading guild, the Woodworkers Guild, and revived it to a level of pride and usefulness. He was given a Baronial Award of Excellence by the hand of the Baroness for his work.

As her last piece of official business at this afternoon court, Baroness Martelle called into her presence Lord Gustav Emile der Dunkele Rotvogel, and for his efforts to teach and promote the arts of archery, he was honored with the Order of the Silverberg.

When all was done, the winners of the arts and sciences competitions were announced, and the prizes were given in turn.

This herein closed the afternoon court of Her Excellency, Martelle von Charlottenburg, Baroness of the Bright Hills.

As the evening waned, and feast was served, Her Excellency decided to hold a third court, the purpose of this one to honor those who had spent their time in the kitchens and feast hall arranging all, and thus had missed her earlier court.

First, the head cooks, Lady Orlaith Carey and Lady Tirzah MacCrudden, along with their staff, were called into the hall so that they could receive thanks and gratitude from all those assembled.

When they had left, Meisterin Johanna von Sudeborn, with Her Excellency's permission, announced that she was taking Heinrich, Baron Bright Hills, as a protege in a small ceremony following the feast.

Then did Baroness Martelle call forth Travis of Bright Hills, a new warrior who had fought valiantly for the Barony at the Pennsic Wars, a gave him his own set of Baronial colors.

For her skill in wire weaving and her willingness to teach the skill to any and all who showed interest, Lady Ingeborg i Trondheim was called before Her Excellency, and given the award of the Order of the Silver Scroll.

Then did the Baroness call into her court Lord Bruce the Robert. Though he is not from our lands, he travels far and gives his hands to work for many of the Barony's causes. For this he received the Order of Job.

There being no further business, the feast court of Her Excellency was closed, and all resumed eating and merriment.

As Witnessed by My Hand,
Lady Aoife inghean Roibeard ui Ruadhain
Bright Hills Cornet
