Ever wonder why it matters to Laurel what your name is? That your first name
is from 947 Norway and your byname is from 1579 Provence? Ever wonder how
the Gaelic speaking folks put their names together? Germans? Moors? Or why
heralds twitch when a client says they want to be Morwenna Nagoshka the Wanderer?

There are distinct naming patterns used throughout our time periods and
places. They follow certain rules and traditions and it's all fairly
straightforward and simple. Some traditions cross borders . . . others, not so much. The
Germans did one thing while the Italians did something quite different. And
the Welsh? Has anyone found the vowels they've lost?

Come on out and play at Fall University this week and we'll talk about how
it works and have some fun doing it. Overview of Medieval Naming Practices
