Unto all of all rank and station, within and without the Kingdom of Atlantia, though especially those within, who are known to the use of arms; do the Baron and all those who are similarly inclined within the borders of the Barony By the Sea give Greeting:

In celebration of the Investiture of the new Baron and Baroness, William and Sarah Beth; and from the great desire we have to become acquainted with the nobles, gentles, knights, sergeants, and squires within and bordering on the Kingdom of Atlantia, as well as with those in the more distant lands; we propose being upon the List-Field at Marinus the tenth day of November next ensuing, and to remain there from High Noon until the fourth hour of the afternoon, and there will deliver from their vows all knights, squires, sergeants,  and any others who desire deeds of arms, from whatever realms they may come; with a course in whatever style of chivalric combat they might desire.  Those who arrive from without the Barony shall be reckoned as “Comers.”  Those who arrive from within the Barony shall be reckoned as “Holders.”

All who come to contend are encouraged and entreated to make as glorious a showing of themselves and their supporters as they might.  It is the wish of all that this be a noble and glorious occasion.

On the outside of the List-Field will be hung shields, blazoned to represent the five styles of chivalric combat, that is:  Weapon and Shield, Two-Weapon, Two-Handed Sword, Pole-Arm, and Spear.  Whoever may choose to contest with us has only to come, or send any one, to touch with a rod any of these shields, according to his courage.  Every one who may come, or send to touch our shields, must give in his name to the persons who shall be appointed to the care of them.  Each challenge will be met in kind by one from amongst the Holders.  The Holders, in turn, will alternately offer challenges to the Comers in like wise.

By way of recognition to those who come to contend with us, a prize will be accorded to the fighter who prevails most in the contests of arms.  The Gallery, to be chosen by Her Excellency the Baroness, shall consider the various qualities and virtues of those entering and may accord additional prizes according to their will and pleasure.

We particularly entreat such noble knights, squires, sergeants, or other fighters as may accept our challenge, to believe that we do not make it through presumption, pride, or any ill will, but solely with a view of having their honourable company, and making acquaintance with them, which we desire from the bottom of our hearts.  And that all knights, squires, sergeants, and other gentles to whom these presents shall come may depend on their authenticity, we have set to them our names, with our arms, this fifth day of September, in the Forty-Second Year of the Society.
