It's time again for the Holy Cross Demo!
Holy Cross Episcopal Church is putting on their 10th annual medieval
festival and the SCA has been invited to do a demo. This is our
opportunity to share with the public who we are, what we do, and maybe
recruit a few to join us in the process! In return, we get the joy of
sharing with people what things were like in period, the fun of doing
what we love to do, and FREE FOOD AND BEER! ;-)
(Participants in the demo are given tickets, which may be redeemed for
anything which tickets will buy at the festival. For example, I can
get a good meal, dessert, and a soda and have a few left over.)
There will be heavy and rapier fighting.
Festival Times:
Friday Oct. 19, 7-10 pm (setup from 5-7 pm)
Saturday Oct. 20, 10-6 pm (setup from 8-10 am)
This is basically a church fund-raising festival, and our presence
boosts attendance. The church annually donates a portion of profit
from the festival to local charities and causes - this year's
beneficiary is the Golden Strip Center.
So put on your best garb, a smile, and bring the things you do in the
SCA to share with the public (this is a family friendly event).
Displays are great, displays in action are even better!
Some ideas, but not limitations, of things to bring:
armor parts for kids to try on
garb for display/try on
fiber arts displays (fibers, spinning, weaving, dyeing, etc.)
needleworking
wood, metal, and leather work
music/musical instruments
pictures from events, scrolls to display, etc.
Friday will be mostly setup, but if you have an A&S type display you
would like to bring, go ahead! If possible, I will try to set up an
information table.
