[MR] A&S Judging Question Part Two

Lots of good ideas and lots of good commentary, but I for one still have not seen an explanation of why one is given a low score for something that is clearly expalined in the documentation.

When you enter an A&S competition, you should be able to expect a certain level of consitency in the judging... you have put time, money and effort into winning said competition; but I have seen a large number of instances when a low score is given simply because they did not catch the expanation in the synopsis... These are not matters of subjective criteria, but objective. How should these be addressed, either to correct the problem from happening as a whole, or within individual competitions?

I for one have been hesitant to re-enter a A&S competitions. Especially after being docked severely for using polyester fabric instead of period silk. (Though color, body, and weave/pattern matched extant garments) And, before you ask, yes, it was right there on my synopsis page, with the explanation of why I did not use it (extremely prohibitive cost) And before you ask, it is not a single contest that made me hesitant, but several. And it isn't the subjective scores/commentary that bother me; it just seemed a very hit or miss enterprise.

I find myself spending my time researching and working on making the best items/projects I can, and take the compliments from passers-by as they come, than try to figure out what the heck a judge would be looking for "this" time.

I'll get off my soapbox now.
