Good morrow gentles, one and all,
It struck me most suddenly this morning that a dark cloud hovers on Atlantia's fair horizon. While all know that Atlantia is home to the most talented artisans in all the world, (and some of the biggest fibbers, but we call them bards), and that the most beautiful works are created in her lands, I ask you what will her state be in ten years, when the scribes' hands are gnarled with arthritis, and the blacksmiths have smashed all their thumbs, and the bards have all gone too batty to remember the words?!
We must preserve our paramount status by training the young immediately, to take up the loom, and chisel, and hammer, and voice, so that when we must step aside in palsied regret, our well-trained children will keep Atlantia's splendor bright!
To this end, I'm attempting to organize a Pages class track at University, but being unskilled in almost all the arts but one, I look to you to come and teach the children of Atlantia your arts and skills. The children have stated interests in blacksmithing, cooking, weaving, cord-making, knitting, woodworking, sewing, the recorder, armoring, embroidery, the plague, and the bardic arts. In other words, they are interested in the same classes that the adults are.
Now, I know children are reputed to be terrifying creatures with small hands and bright eyes and great potential for noise, but unfortunately most of the children of Atlantia are prone to behaving themselves quite nicely and generally being attentive, and are quite disappointing if you show up armed with a whip and a chair.
1) You will not be left alone with the children. There will be a second adult (arranged for if you can not find one) both to help with the class and to yell for a herald if a parent needs to be found, as well as accidentally complying with Atlantia's law regarding minors.
2) Kids make a GREAT test audience. If you want to practice teaching a class when adults are scary, the children are a wonderful opportunity to practice speaking in front of an audience.
3) The children of Atlantia are SO HAPPY to get classes aimed at their level (ages 8 - 14), that they're welcome to attend, that they're on their best behavior.
Please! Volunteer to teach one class for the Pages Academy today! Any subject welcome! Contact me as soon as possible so Master Eldred doesn't kill me!
In service,
Livia Zanna,
Dean of the Pages Academy, Atlantia
