Some people have seen the frogs I wear on my mandarine vests and the lace I've made. Most of them are made using a versatile form of knotted lace called needle tatting, its the pre-cursor to the victorian style done with shuttles. Even though I've yet to find the documentation on the technique I believe it is very plausible to be a style of lace making in late period. The technique uses knotting and stitching found in period and is definitely a nice alternative to the acrylic stuff bought in stores.
