[MR] Unevent Boycott... an observation

My pardons to the list, but I wish to make an observation...
Firstly. This idea of a boycott is ludicrous. One usually boycotts an event (or place) to show, by means of loss of sales, thier displeasure and force to change; I.E. no people=no money. Unevent is a "fee-free" daytrip. We pay for our own food at an off-site vendor, we pay for our own gas to get there. we are not paid to go to this event either. There is nothing going on save BUSINESS MEETINGS.
So, how is this making a statement?
Secondly. I know, as an officer, that my job can be made easier if I DO go to these meetings. For me, it is more than *just* a meeting. It is a time to ask questions of those who are in the same office thier opinions or insights of particular problem I might have and/or to assist another similarly. Also, if I have time, to learn about another office I may be interested in at a later date.
So, Who am I really hurting with this boycott?
Only myself, and those I serve. This is something I do not see the logic in.
