Good Gentles --
The following concerns something that's somewhat Out Of
Period, but may well be of interest to many SCAdians. If it is of no
interest to you, then please pardon the intrusion, and allow me to
direct your attention the the "Delete" icon.

Hey, Guys --
The Virginia Opera is presenting Pirates of Penzance this
month! This is one of Gilbert and Sullivan's most popular comedies .
. . uh, er, that is, "light operas".
         They're doing performances in Norfolk on the 9, 11, 14, 16,
and 18th, in Fairfax on the 30th and December 2nd, and in Richmond on
the 23rd and 25th. Details are online at
<http://www.vaopera.org/>. For more info on the opera itself, wait
for the video to load at the top, then click for more. Richmond
tickets run from $20 to $85 bucks before fees.
Sally and I plan to attend the Richmond performance on
Sunday the 25th. We expect to get the cheap seats, in section
5A. You're invited to join us. I hope to be able to negotiate the
treacherous ticketbox hours, and the rabid wombats of Main Street,
and purchase tickets at the Mosque box office later this week, thus
avoiding the exorbitant fees and charges imposed by Ticketmaster. If
you think that you'd enjoy coming with us please let us know ASAP,
and we could pick up some for you as well.
I think that our last "night at the opera" went well, when
many of us went to see The Mikado. We each had a libretto and a
light then, but at this performance we'll have superscripts!
If you're out of town, you may want to check out the nearest
performance to your location. Everything I've ever seen from Gilbert
and Sullivan has been well worthwhile. YMMV, of course.
