And I heard this discussion was childish.

Actually it does bother me that experienced players are so lazy and those pretending to be so experienced really do so little to set the tone.  Having experience doesn't give us the right to be lazy.  Having experience means we do our best to set the example.  For that reason I think the discussion is important.
