[MR] suggestion for new cell phone rules at events

    Before this turns into a lynching with one person standing alone in the arena...

This is all true, BUT....At many occasions and events beyond the scope of the SCA, there is a time to turn off the cell phone, usually during a special presentation or a speech.  I feel that court should be one of those times.

And walking away from the person with a cell phone that is ringing will not mitigate the irritant unless that sound is too quiet to carry (in which case there would be no problem in the first place).
    As for cell phones being of use to communicate at events, needing to be in constant contact with the world, etc...People seem to forget this, but there was a time in the not at all distant past that we existed and thrived quite happily without being in constant communication.  I frankly think it is a shame how addicted and dependent people have become upon their phones.
