Greetings Gentle Nobles,

On October 20, 2007, the SCA Board of Directors approved the rewrite
of the Society Equestrian Hanbook. The new rules are not posted on the
Society web page yet, but should be soon.

If you would like a copy of the new rules before they appear on
SCA.org Society Equestrian Marshal page, then drop me an email OFF
LIST at BrandwynAlston at gmail.com and I can send you a copy.

They made some significant changes and simplified the rules
considerably. The biggest change is that there is no longer a
"beginner, intermediate, or advanced" level of rider. Riders that were
authorized in one of those levels are now considered authorized at the
"games" level. Bannerat level riders remain Bannerat (which is the
same as the "special" level in the SCA rules). A new level of "ride
only" is now available for those that want to do trail rides,
processional or any other riding that does not require use of a
weapon.

I am currently working on rewriting the Atlantian Cavalry rules to
conform to the Society rules and put them in a handbook - The
Atlantian Book of the Horse which I hope to have available as soon as
the rewritten Atlantian rules are approved at a Curia.

I plan to be at Unevent at a table in the common gathering area if you
would like to speak with me in person about the new rules or anything
equestrian in the SCA.

Please contact me off-list if you have any questions.

Thank you!
Brandy
(Lady Brandwyn Alston of the Rift, Earl Marshal of the Horse)
