There will be classes, displays, and competitions around the time period 1066-1291including European, Middle Eastern, and other cultures. We also invite those with other medieval arts and sciences skills to demonstrate, display, or just work on their specialty. If you would like to teach a class or demostrate any of the fiber arts please contact Lady Alesandra @ merritt at tatrc.org. For all other areas please contact Lady Elena @ elenadi at aol.com.
A&S Competition Theme:
In their travels, the Crusaders acquired items or learned new techniques that they took back to Europe. Therefore the main theme of A&S competition will center on these items and techniques that they adopted "as is" or incorporated into already existing items and practices when they returned home.
The four subcategories will be:
A. Items made of hard materials such as wood, clay, glass, and metal
B. Items made of soft materials such as fiber and paper
C. Edible items
D. Bardic
Note: There will be some materials such as leather that could fall into either the hard or soft category. It will be up to the entrant's discretion as to which category they wish to enter.
Documentation will be required showing the source and the subsequent use in Europe. Please provide a one-page summary of the documentation.
There also is a lampwork competition in honor of Mistress Caitlin Cheannlaidir announced separately.
