*** Please forward to ALL local lists & scriptoria ****

Greetings to the populace from Lady Livia Zanna, Scrivener Royal to the most
august throne of Atlantia, and to their Royal Majesties, Valharic and
Arielle.

As their Majesties seek to find worthy successors in their Crown Tournament,
I too seek a successor, to take on the duties, responsibilities, and
singular honor of standing as Scrivener Royal for a year and a day, until
again Atlantia's heirs are sought in the warmer months.

The Scrivener Royal position is one that requires both service and art. The
Scrivener Royal appointment was created so that their Majesties would have a
scribe whom they could call upon to occasionally create a special scroll for
an upcoming event, or to help fill out court business at events when
necessary. Please note that this does NOT mean that the scribe will be
called upon every event weekend, as their Majesties understand that there
can be other commitments or demands that arise. It can be challenging at
times, but also vastly rewarding and a wonderful learning experience.

The requirements of the position are that you stand as Scrivener Royal for a
year, create a scroll for the next Scrivener Royal, which is the gift passed
on from one to the next, care for the regalia and paraphenalia of the office
(A baldric & leather scroll case), serve their Majesties and Highnesses to
the best of your abilities, and hold the competition to find your successor
when your term is complete.

I have this last duty to finish, and so I state the terms for the
competition. The Scrivener Royal will be called upon BOTH as an
illuminator, and as a calligrapher, so all entries must be completely the
entrant's own work.

1) All entrants must bring their portfolio of work, if they have one, for
display. (Collaborative efforts are allowed in display but should be noted
as such.)

2) They must complete at least one Kingdom award scroll blank (which can not
be a Peerage or a Nonpareil), of their own work entirely. More would be
better. All scroll blanks become the property of the Kingdom after being
entered in the competition.

3) All scribes who wish to enter this competition will need to bring any
supplies they use to perform calligraphy with, as they will be asked to
demonstrate their skills in a "day-of" setting, to demonstrate both
versatility and skill.

*** IF you are planning a busy schedule with the tournament (being either a
competitor, or a consort, OR event staff, or what have you,) please let me
know so we can make appropriate arrangements.

If you have any questions about the position, about the competition, or
about the requirements, please do not hesitate to contact me at
livia at nc.rr.com, or call me at (919) 280-2909.

To those who have contacted me, I do apologize for my belated post to the
list. I intended to get this posted last week, but I had a family emergency
which took me down to Mississippi for three days.

Thank you for your time!

Sincerely yours,
Lady Livia Zanna,
Scrivener Royal
