My understanding is that these incidents happened at SCA-related gatherings, i.e., get-togethers at his (parents') house to work on projects, but were not published SCA events (I don't know if they appeared on any kind of SCA group calendar). From an e-mail posting of a friend who was in his home group
"He was the East Kingdom Dean of Pages. He was also the commander of the
East Kingdom Youth Fighter program. He organized and/or ran many of the youth
activities at Pennsic for several years. I don't recall exactly when he was in
office, I think it was in the late 1990s/early 2000s."
As someone who was a minor when she joined the SCA and who had, what it seemed at the time, an overprotective mother, I can't imagine her dropping me off at the home of an unmarried man. As someone who is now a mother, it makes me more aware of the need to be vigilant, and to think that maybe my mother was more right than I thought she was at the time.

I was wondering about that as well. Did any of the abuse happen at SCA events? were these gatherings at his place (his parents place?) SCA sanctioned?
