Pretty much because no matter who you are you still have the right to do a
frustrated rant to your friends and NOT have people think "oh nos the SCA
is going to get rid of children's activities".

My journal is locked to friends with the exception of a few posts with
specific purpose.  That is because open journals have come back to bite
more than one person and in many cases the cost has been severe (in the
mundane world people losing their jobs because their employer found out a
little too much).

If you write something and lock it to your friends it's the equivilent of
having a private conversation in a room.  You have the right to expect
people not to share it with others.

UNLESS he posts it as an official announcment - which would be other
places than his livejournal anyway - he is NOT officially speaking for the
SCA.  People need to remember that.  Until it comes out as an official
announcement he has a right to the same privacy you'd expect for your
personal writings.

In this case I'm really hoping the poster was refering to one of the few
open posts on his journal.  No I'm not on his friends list so I can't be
sure.
