I highly recommend using Rt. 301, but I live closer to that road. For about half my life, I've been taking 301 to go south to or past Richmond. I don't know how good or bad 95 is now with the construction on the Springfield interchange mostly (if not fully) over, but the worst part of the 301 trip is Waldorf (and maybe Bowie from north of there) I have no experience on Rt. 1.When going 301, you can either take it all the way to 295 around Richmond, or take 207 to 95 (which will spit you out just north of Kings Dominion). I find that 207 to 95 is a slightly longer distance than going strait to 295, but it's also slightly quicker b/c you get on the interstate sooner. So, either way from that point is fine. (Quick note for those who haven't done this route before: to stay on 301 instead of taking 207, you have to take the exit off of 301--signs will show you where. Continuing on 301 and not taking the exit will put you on 207. However, like I said, the difference is
