Hello Atlantian musicians!
Just in case there *happens* to be someone out there reading this that would enjoy a really wacky music gig in Washington DC this coming Sunday, April 1, I am posting this invitation. I honestly can say that there is no April fooling associated with this gig. There may be some fun had once the gig is over, but it's not part of the performance.

The National Museum of Women in the Arts is holding an event called "Family Festival: Rennaisance Revelry!" which you can check out here: http://www.nmwa.org/. The festival is held in concert with a new exhibit "Italian Women Artists from Renaissance to Baroque - March 16, 2007 - July 15, 2007."

One of the performing acts at this festival is "i Sebastiani - The Greatest Commedia dell' Arte Troupe in the Entire World!" If you haven't heard of this semi-pro, SCA born troupe from Boston, check out www.isebastiani.com. They will be performing one, half-hour show, three times during the day.

The need for a musician lies in the first 2-3 minutes of the show. It is in fact the introductory, mood setting music commonly used before the show starts. We need a musician who can play a 2 minute tune, very loudly (no lutes), that is documentable to 16th century Italy and has as bouncy, energetic, fun, and blood pumping a tone as possible.

The wackiness of this gig comes from the timing. We only need a 2 minute performance, three times, spread throughout the afternoon, once before each show. There is no financial compensation for this gig, but there is the compensation of bragging rights that you played at the National Museum of Women in the Arts, with the absolute best Commedia dell' Arte troupe in the country, and you were really needed. Also, it will be a ton of fun. The i Sebastiani shows are hillarious, and you'll never find a more enjoyable group of wacky wonderful people to spend a day with. It's possible you might get dinner out of the deal, but I can't promise anything since I don't control the purse strings.

My backup plan is to play Petite Rien on the recorder myself. I can do it, but it's just not that exciting.

Is there anyone reading this that's game for such an adventure? If you're interested, please email me privately at "orange at indy.net."

Many thanks,
Sophia the Orange
