Good Day fellow SCAdians! I am pleased to invite you to an evening of drumming and dancing! Hosted by Min al JBal al Z'arra, who reside in the Shire of Isenfir!

The event is set to follow up an event held within our fair city. The St.Anne's Costumer Symposium is going to be held that day, and we

thought we would invite the folks that attend the event to come to our event as well! The event information follows:

Date & Time: Saturday, April 28, 2007

7:00 PM

Location: The ATTiC (in the Glass Building)

313 2nd Street SE

Charlottesville VA 22902

Get ready for the April, 2007 edition of the monthly min el-Jbal el-Zarr’a (MJZ) drum/music/dance event in Charlottesville.

Because the Society for Creative Anachronism (www.sca.org)

is holding a symposium here in Charlottesville during the day on the

28th of April with many interesting classes on medieval clothing, and

some that particularly refer to Middle Eastern clothing of the time of

the Ottoman Empire, we have decided to schedule our April event for

that evening following the symposium.

For those who don't know, this is where the reality that the

"fantasy of what we think Ghawazee coats are" or what we "call Ghawazee

coats or turkish coats" comes from. Come learn about what they REALLY

wore within the walls of Topkapi, and in the gardens of fashionable

homes all over the empire! To see more information about the classes,

check out (stannes.atlantia.sca.org/classes.htm ). Some of the folks

from around the Kingdom of Atlantia will be in the area for this event

and we've extended them a special invitation to attend our hafla as

well!

As always, this event (whether you call it a hafla, a drum circle,

a gathering or dancers, or just a party) is a chance for those of us

who are dancers and musicians to get together to just play and dance

without the stress and anxiety of a performance setting. Whether your

musical tradition is Middle-Eastern, West African, Celtic, Polynesian,

or something else, you are invited to join us on Saturday, April 28,

2007 at The ATTic (upstairs in the Glass Building, Downtown

Charlottesville) from 7:00 until 10:00 PM.

The format is simple: live music for live dancing...just bring your

acoustic instrument(s), your talent, a cushion to sit on, and some

ideas for songs/rhythms that the group can join in with.

We will provide water and mint tea (iced and hot); if you want to

bring something else to share with the group, feel free, but that is

not necessary.

We would appreciate a donation of $5.00 to defray costs of the space, if you are able.

Please join us if you can!

WHEN:

Saturday, April 28, 2007, 7:00-10:00 PM

LOCATION:

The ATTic (Room 208, 2nd floor of the Glass Building)

313 2nd Street SE

Charlottesville VA 22902
