I am currently working on a late 15th century French (Parisian) scroll [Here, you can see a few examples of the style: http://ds.cul.columbia.edu:8080/ldpd/app/exist/scriptorium/individual/UCB-8.xml?showLightbox=yes]. I have the border almost finished. However, I am unsure what to do for the miniature because it was originally meant to be a Pearl scroll, and 'arts and sciences' is such an expansive category that I couldn't decide what to do that would cover all arts and sciences, except maybe a teacher and student. However, I would first like to give someone the chance to step forward and ask this scroll to be theirs, and while the border is already done (diagonal, similar to f. 79 of the link above), the miniature (which has the arched top, and takes up about half the non-border area) would be customized to the person and the reason they became a member of the Order of the Pearl (scribal, seamstressing, blacksmithy, bardic, etc).
Thus I put out this call for any member of the Order of the Pearl who has a scroll on the backlog and has a wish for a late-15th century (specifically, this one is based on a manuscript of 1494) Parisian scroll with full miniature done by myself. Or if you know a member of the Order who would like such a scroll, forward them my message and see what they think.
I will have this scroll at Spring Coronation, hopefully on display. However, if it is not on display, any can ask to see it. I will take the first request for this scroll; however, I am very willing to do more of this style (this is my second!). Please send any questions, comments, or requests to avani_pari @yahoo.com, or look for me at Spring Coronation. And please feel free to look at some of the other scrolls I've done at http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/avani_pari/my_photos (click Scribal Portfolio)
