Greetings!
I have returned from pilgrimage to the Shrine of St Urho!
Our trip to the southern reaches of Atlantia was uneventful, if wet, the entire 7 hours. My traveling companion and protector Sir Strykar Geirhaldsson was witty and regaled me with tales of our common past deeds and things best left to the books of history.
The morning of the celebration of St Urho's mighty deeds in Finland dawned bright and clear but with a brisk wind. It chilled us to the bone. You would have been proud of our baronial presence and many of the local people kindly helped me to set up, even if we needed to retreat inside at times for warmth.
There was a fine tournament of both the youth fighters and the grown fighters who braved the cold to vie for victory in bear pit style tournaments. I was honored to be asked to help judge the A&S entries. They were delicious and showed great imagination in the challenge of "Best use of grasshoppers in a dessert". The "Best use of Purple and Green" was won by a newly authorized fighter in a very fine surcoat adorned with grasshopper heraldry vaguely reminiscent of some English King......
I was treated most graciously by the good folk of Salesbery Glenn. Their help and generosity of spirit and help make my trip to their lands memorable.
My cousin, Her Excellency, Baronne Alianor atte Red Swanne honored me by asking me sit at her high table and her beauty and grace only enhanced the fine rustic meal and goodly dancing offered that evening. Sir Axel entertained us with his research of a specific historical style and a reading of a poem he wrote in honor of our fair kingdom of Atlantia. I believe that he may be enticed to perform this epic at Coronation.
I am so overcome with the story of St. Urho that I feel I should make the pilgrimage next year to restore and revive my faith in his miracle! I also have my pilgrim badge to that show I have indeed made this arduous trek!
Yours in service to St Urho!
Martelle von Charlottenburg,
5th Baroness of the Bright Hills
