HAWKWOOD'S 3rd BARONIAL BIRTHDAY
&
TOURNEY OF THE GOLDEN MOON
Barony of Hawkwood - Arden, N.C.
As Spring warms the mountains and the sun's tender glow brings forth flowers and the youth of the MacGregor farm, those doggone Viking raiders are on the move again!!!! They want our breeding cattle and sheep! We say NO! and call for all our friends and neighbors to help up defend MacGregor's farm in the well-loved tradition of the TOURNEY OF THE GOLDEN MOON! The Barony of Hawkwood is celebrating its third birthday and all are invited to join us for a weekend of fun and frolic and fighting!
List opens at 10:00; tourneys begin at noon! NOTE! All tourney entrants are requested to provide one item for the prize chest as their tourney entrance fee.
In addition to the Tourney of the Golden Moon (a timed-team melee raiding scenario), the young of our kingdom will undertake a quest with treasure to be found!
And for those young of heart, but a little more stout, good old Scottish games, including the Hawkwood favorites, full-contact musical chairs and marshalled tug o'war! The defending champion, Lady Marryyn Blackgroves will be called upon to defend her title!

Best Viking Hair Braids - Don't you just hate it when your bangs flop in your eyes as you're carrying that sheep back to the longboat? Not this year! Show us your finest plaited tresses on or off the field, be they beard or brow and noggin. No documentation required, but if you wish to be considered, submit a picture of your bodacious braids or be there in person at (insert time we set for judging) for the judges to view your 'do.
Best Use of Wool - The Scots take pride in the fairness of their sheep, so bring your finest fleeces in whatever form you desire and show off your sharp, sheepy skills in spinning, weaving, knitting, dyeing or whatever woolen way you choose. Documentation and wool required, sheep optional.
Best use of Wood - All this talk of fighting, fabulous hair and sheep in the springtime often brings up the wood, so go there and show us your creativity and skill in using this versatile tree product in anything from carved prows for ships, handles for your new axe head, beds for your favorite wench or mugs for your favorite brew. Documentation required and remember, it's not about size!
