[MR] Salesberie Glen Fight Practcie 18 March

For those of you interested, and not going to Gulf war...I have arranged for
an old friend of mine Sir Strykar Geirhaldson to come down to Salesberie
Glen and teach heavy weapon fighting technique at the Salesberie Glen Fight
practice Sunday the 18th of March. Sir Strykar was one of the predominate
teachers of SCA fighting technique in the North of Atlantia during the glory
days of the 1980s. He was one of those responsible for molding the then
Northern Army of Atlantia (The Grand Army of the Potomac) into one of the
largest and best fighting forces in Atlantia. He has personally translated
fechtbuchs, (Rennasiance Fighting manuals) and is a well known instructor
within the WMA (Western Martial Arts) community. He also holds Dan ranks in
kendo and iaido Tentatively his plans are to cover: 

Basics -- more or less generic 

Standing -- how to stand 

Stepping -- foot work drills, turning drills (some of this will be from
Fiore) 

Power generation -- the equilibrio versus the pass, blow development
(equilibrio is a 18th century backsword concept, sort of a proto snap) and
hitting with power -- using the elbow or rear arm bracing to hit with the
body.

Movement theory -- this would work on the angles of entry and exit, ranges,
and fight phrasing. 

Defense -- Hiding behind the tree, moving the tree, point versus zone
defense, movement as defense, angle as defense, refusing targets, range
management, layers of defense

Attack -- Range of attack, angles of attack, movement as attack, defense and
offense as one. 

Great Sword -- some historical drills from Portugal.
