Unto the list.

A hearty thanks to all who sent me their heraldry or links to other
online collections. There were far too many to thank individually. My
students loved the activity (once they got over the rule of tincture)
and were grateful for the fine examples.

As in past years, many of my students came up with beautiful devices
that put my own to shame. My favorite so far: Per bend sinister azure
and sable, a sun radiant or, an increscent argent.

Another was a bit anachronistic, but very fitting for a two-sport
athlete: Per cross wavy sable and vert, two basketballs argent, two
volleyballs argent.

Again, thanks to all. This eagerness to help shows me that our society
truly deserves "educational" status.

Unto the list,

In my mundane job I teach high school British literature. Every year as
I start my unit on medieval literature I spend a day or so teaching my
students about the language of heraldry. I teach them the basic concepts
and let them design their own devices. Not only does it give them a
flavor of the middle ages and provide some color to my classroom, it
also has some applications in grammar.
One thing I like to do is provide them with plenty of good examples. I
have many pictures of period and SCA heraldry already, but I always like
to add new ones.
So if any gentles out there have jpegs of their devices I would love to
include them in my lesson. Just drop me an e-mail with the picture
attached.
Thank you for your time,

In service,
Lord William de Faleston
