Pardon me all, but I believe a very unfortunate thing is happening and I would like to address.
Boffers are Not Youth Combat Weapons. Please contact your nearest Youth Combat Marshal or the Kingdom's Earl Marshal for Youth Combat for the exact rules and specifications for what the Youth Combat weapons and armor require.
A Boffer sword is no more a Youth Combat weapon than a kendo sword is a Heavy Combat weapon. Neither will be allowed on the field of combat, I assure you.
Now, the notion that a parent playing with their child with boffer wepens is an ILLEGAL act is something that disturbs me greatly. I believe the vast majority of the parents of this Kingdom have done so and I hope they have not felt threatened that they should not. This is how our kids have learned (and in fact, they learned with wood and steel, not foam-rubber, in our periods of study).
So please, choose words carefully. Boffers do have a place in play time and practice, even with us big kids! However, the talents learned from them belong on the field, not the tool itself. Please don't hestitate to play whenever you get the chance, especially with your kids!
